“The restored assembly hall will be a magnificent gallery. I for one would be thrilled to show in such an important and resonant space.”
MARK WALLINGER,
TURNER PRIZE-WINNING ARTIST FORMER ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE, ACLAND BURGHLEY
2019
We commissioned a feasibility study to understand exactly what improvements are required to meet the needs identified by our students and community.
2020
We undertook an extensive community consultation. It revealed how our community desperately needs affordable, accessible and inclusive space for faith groups and local charities to host wide-ranging activities from dementia support groups to choirs and drama clubs.
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment took up residency.
2021
We obtained planning permission from Camden Council, which describes our school as a vital part of Camden’s community. Its strategy states that buildings and developments should contribute to making Camden open, accessible and attractive for everyone, and that our community spaces should encourage interaction and engagement between neighbours and people with different backgrounds.
We were granted Grade II listed building status.
2022
The National Lottery Heritage Fund (see below) granted £110,000 to fund the development phase.
We have been invited to submit a further application for the delivery phase in 2024.
2023
We appointed a Community, Culture & Heritage Project Manager to work with key colleagues in the school, the School Trust, and partner organisations to support the overall development and delivery of the Hall for All project.
We recruited a Community Led Management Board (CLMB), ensuring that the Hall will provide free or low-cost access and build partnerships with local charities, creative partners, residents groups, and the health and youth sectors.
NOW
We have secured £117,000, enabling us to reach Stage 3 RIBA Design; things are in place to source contractors and begin construction (Stage 4). Recent fundraising activity is helping us towards our target.
We anticipate raising approximately £600,000 through the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Hall for All is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to kick start the project and look to complete fundraising in 2025.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
