SUMMARY:Brutal Festival: Brutal Walk - 550 students and teachers
DESCRIPTION:We are culminating the school year with a Brutal Festival\, which will include the Brutal Walk on Monday 22 July many students\, staff and volunteers will embark on a sponsored journey through London’s iconic Brutalist landmarks for the Hall for All appeal. \nThe lead up to the big walk will include many educational activities in school including architecture sessions and workshop run by the Museum of Brutalist Architecture (MoBA)\, as well as a Brutal Debate during which students will be engrossed in discussions on whether Brutalism is beautiful or ugly! \nThe Brutal Walk will be organised as follows: \n\nY7 will walk from the school to the Southbank Centre (via Russell Square and SOAS)\nY8 will walk from the school to the Barbican\nY9 will walk from the school to the National Theatre (via the Brunswick Centre)\nInclusive walk for those unable to undertake the larger walks will be to the Whittington Estate\n\nThe Barbican\, Southbank Centre and National Theatre have also kindly offered to host a range of architecture-themed activities and mini-tours for the arriving students. Students will return to school on the tube. \nThis fundraising initiative will include over 550 students from Y7\, Y8 and Y9 and comes hot on the heels of the 50k raised from the last event! DESCRIPTION:Join us for a dedicated networking and information sharing event for those in the architecture\, design and the built environment industries. \nThis Hall for All event will take place between 4.00pm and 6.30pm; feel free to join us when you can. Please use Eventbrite to reserve your space. \n4:00 – 5:00pm: Guests are invited to watch the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s rehearsal of the Brandenburg Concertos. Bach’s groundbreaking ‘Six Concertos for several instruments’ puts the collective virtuosity of the OAE in the spotlight. \n5:00 – 6:30pm: Drinks and canapés will be served and Headteacher Nicholas John\, a representative from the OAE and from Urban Learners who are leading on the development of MoBA will speak about our Brutalist heritage and the Hall for All project.
